The Symbol On Early Darrow and Parker Brother Games Community Chest Squares Starting with the 1935 Darrow 2nd Generation Black Box Board, Darrow inserted a symbol on the Community Chest Squares. The use of this symbol continued until 1946. A request was made to the Yahoo Monopoly Collectors group to find the source of the symbol and 2 members; Bruce Messenger and Matthew Horton found the source of the symbol. In 1913, the United Way Community Chest used the symbol in their initial advertising as the nation's first modern Community Chest which was formed in Cleveland, where a program for allocating campaign funds was developed.
